Parvani's September Book Recommendations

I love reading and you should too!

This month's recommendations:

  • Malamander by Thomas Taylor

Welcome to Eerie-on-Sea, a seaside town where nothing feels quite right. There's a half man, half fish monster called the Malamander, and when a girl looking for her parents turns up in Herbert Lemon's lost and foundery, everything turns on its head. Read this almost-scary book, and I guarantee you, you will not forget about the Malamander.

  • Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson

Follow Jacqueline Woodson from when she was just a baby to when she was a tween in this thought-provoking, interesting autobiography about the author's childhood in a society where black people were just earning their rights, and they listened. They dreamed.

  • The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba

This is another true story about William, a boy growing up in a little village in Africa. The village, for the most part, has no electricity. And when a drought hits, they don't know if they will survive. After good times and bad, William thinks he knows how to help their village. But can he do it or is he just crazy?
